For anyone interested in politics or public speaking, former US President Bill Clinton's speech, delivered on Wednesday at the Democratic National Convention, nominating fellow-Democrat Barack Obama for re-election as President, is required listening and viewing.
The speech even drew plaudits from those not usually sympathetic either to Clinton or the Democratic Party. The conservative Daily Telegraph noted that this speech "reminded America what really great political speech-making is all about." A consultant for the Republican Party, Alex Castellanos said, "This will be the moment that probably re-elected Barack Obama." With two months to go until the election, it is too early to tell whether Castellanos is correct, but I would recommend that any student of politics and any member of PGS Model United Nations listen to what The New Yorker described as "one of the greatest tours de force in convention history". Enjoy.

Update: Early indications are that, following the Clinton speech, Obama's lead over his rival Mitt Romney in the opinion polls widened appreciably.
